Police have seized illicit drugs, cash, a stolen firearm and suspected stolen property following the execution of multiple search warrants across northern Tasmania as part of an ongoing investigation.

On Tuesday 22 September 2026, officers from the Northern Criminal Investigation Branch and the Northern Drugs and Firearms Unit supported by specialist resources executed search warrants at addresses in Mayfield and Invermay.

At a Mayfield residence, police seized approximately 48 grams of methylamphetamine and quantities of other illicit drugs.

A further search warrant executed at a second Mayfield property resulted in the seizure of four motorcycles and two mountain bikes, all suspected as being stolen.

Police arrested a 36-year-old Mayfield man who has since been charged with trafficking in a controlled substance, property offences and other matters.

At an Invermay address, police located approximately 26 grams of methylamphetamine, 20 grams of MDMA, $15,650 cash, and quantities of other illicit drugs. During a subsequent search of a nearby property, police also located a shotgun, identified as being stolen from a private residence in 2021.

Police arrested a 38-year-old Invermay man who has since been charged with trafficking in a controlled substance and firearms offences.

Both men were detained to appear in the Launceston Magistrates Court today (23 September).
