Two-Pedestrian Crash – Hobart CBD

Just after 8pm on the 17th June 2021, emergency services responded to a crash on the corner of Argyle and Bathurst Streets, Hobart. Two pedestrians (a 46yo female from Lenah Valley, and her 8yo son) were crossing at the lights when they were struck by a grey Ford Ranger turning right onto Bathurst Street.

Both pedestrians were taken to hospital. The 8yo child is in a stable condition with head and chest injuries. The female suffered minor injuries.

“Hobart experienced poor weather all day today, police would like to remind drivers to be alert at all times and drive to the conditions. Even low speed crashes can have serious consequences,” said Sgt Scott Mackenzie.

Forensic Services and Crash Investigation Services attended the scene and Argyle Street (between Liverpool and Bathurst) was closed for approximately 2 hours.

The cause of the crash is being investigated; poor weather conditions is likely to be a contributing factor.
