Victoria Police personnel support Tasmanian counterparts

The Acting Commissioner of Police, Scott Tilyard, will welcome a contingent of Victoria Police officers tomorrow (Wednesday, 9 January).

20 officers will be deployed to Tasmania to assist in the bushfire response.

“Tasmania Police appreciates the support provided by our Victorian counterparts,” Mr Tilyard said.

“We have a long and proud tradition of providing support to other jurisdictions in time of need and the assistance of Victoria Police in bushfire investigation will be invaluable.”

Many of the Victoria Police personnel will be deployed in Dunalley to assist in the search of damaged and destroyed properties.

Following their arrival in Hobart, they will be sworn in as Special Constables by the Acting Commissioner.
