At approximately 1:30pm on Wednesday 8 December 2010 Ambulance Tasmania tasked the Westpac Police Rescue Helicopter to attend a serious motor vehicle crash on the Tasman Highway.

The crash occurred approximately 22km north of Bicheno and a 43 year old man from Youngtown was trapped in the vehicle for some time. The man was then flown from the crash scene to the Royal Hobart Hospital in a stable condition.
