Woman charged over Warrane serious crash

A 26-year-old woman has today been charged with a serious driving offence following a single vehicle crash at Warrane in which a male person was struck by a car.

Investigating officers from South East CIB this afternoon charged the Warrane woman with Causing Grievous Bodily Harm by Dangerous Driving. She has been detained in custody to appear in the Hobart Magistrates Court on Saturday, 20 June, 2026.

The man, a 29-year-old from Warrane, has undergone surgery and remains in Royal Hobart Hospital with serious internal injuries.

The charges stem from an incident on Bounty Street, Warrane, about 1.10am Friday in which a vehicle – a white Holden Commodore station wagon – struck the man while he was standing in the front yard of a residential property.

Police allege the vehicle had left Bounty Street and crashed through a boundary fence of the same property, before reversing back on to Bounty Street for a distance, and then driving forward hitting the man and crashing into the house before coming to a stop against a fence.

There were no other injuries reported.

Investigations are continuing.

Police can confirm the man and the woman are known to each other and it is understood they have been in a relationship for several years. As such, the incident is being investigated as a serious family violence incident.

Anyone with information, or CCTV footage of the incident, is asked to contact police on 131 444. Quote Offence Report 808542
