Woman charged with arson following Glenorchy house fire

Detectives from Glenorchy CIB have today charged a 33-year-old woman with arson relating to a house fire at unit 4, 3 Dew Drop Court Glenorchy overnight.

 

Police and Tasmania Fire Service were called to the address just prior to 11.30pm Thursday night and arrived to find the house engulfed in flames with all occupants safe and accounted for.

 

The fire was extinguished and determined to be deliberately lit. Examination of the scene located a dog inside the residence that sadly died as a result of the fire.

 

Investigations at the scene led police to take a 33-year-old female occupant of the address into custody.

 

The woman was interviewed and has this afternoon been charged with a count of arson and is being detained for court later today.
