Woman dies following Legana crash

Sadly, police can confirm the 39-year-old Winkleigh woman involved in a crash on the West Tamar Highway at Legana on Friday afternoon has died in hospital.

The woman was the sole occupant of her blue Nissan Navara and was travelling north on the highway when a man driving a blue Skoda collided head-on with her vehicle.

Police believe the man was the perpetrator of a serious wounding incident in Exeter a short time earlier, in which a woman known to him sustained serious stab wounds.

The man was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash.

The woman who was wounded remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Our thoughts are with the loved ones of both women, and all those affected by these incidents.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
