Police have arrested and charged a teenage girl as part of their investigations into a disturbance at a retail precinct in New Town earlier this evening.

Police were notified of an incident near Kmart New Town about 7.20pm Wednesday, involving a group of youths who had reportedly assaulted an adult male.

The man has not sustained any serious physical injuries.

Police attended the scene quickly and were able to safely manage the incident.

A 13-year-old girl was taken into custody. She has been charged with common assault and bailed to appear in court at a later date.

Police investigations continue into other parties potentially involved in this incident.
