Annual Police Charity Trust Bike Ride pedals 400kms raising money for two worthwhile Tasmanian charities

The annual Tasmania Police Charity Trust bike ride will pedal around 400kms this weekend fundraising for the Cancer Council Tasmania and New Horizons Club.

“Now in its 12th year, the success of the annual Charity Trust Bike Ride has exceeded all expectations thanks to the dedication and enthusiasm of our participants and supporters,” said Constable Richard Douglas.

“This year’s Bike Ride pedals off from Cradle Mountain today and will sees 78 riders with 12 support crew travel to Strahan, Queenstown, Tarraleah, and Glenorchy, over three days.

“The ride truly challenges the riders and will push them to their limits as they pedal the 400km journey, often through unpredictable weather conditions, sometimes freezing cold in heavy rain.

“With us again this year are several police officers and sponsors who have ridden and supported us every year since 2007.

“It’s thanks to the dedication and enthusiasm of our participants and supporters that we are able to annually donate to help those in need in our community.

“We’re pleased to continue to support the great work of Tasmanian charities and are proud to have raised and donated a total of $440,000 over the past eleven years – we hope to add another $50,000 to that total this year.

Commissioner Hine, as Chair of the Charity Trust, will welcome the riders over the finish line at Glenorchy Police Station on Sunday.
