Team 2390 helps save 3,567 lives in honour of Constable Keith Smith

The Tasmanian community has come together in an extraordinary way to honour the memory of Constable Keith Smith, helping save 3,567 lives through this year’s Lifeblood Emergency Services Blood Drive.

Created in Keith’s memory, Team 2390 set an ambitious goal of helping save 2,390 lives, a tribute to Keith’s badge number.

Thanks to the participation of Tasmania Police and DPFEM staff, Ambulance Tasmania colleagues, and hundreds of families, friends and community members, that goal was not only reached but exceeded.

Among those donations were contributions from 104 first-time donors. Knowing that so many people took that first step to help others may be one of the most meaningful outcomes of the campaign.

Together, participants made 1,189 donations, helping save an estimated 3,567 lives.

The campaign also achieved national recognition, recording the third-highest number of lives saved of any organisation participating in the blood drive across Australia.

Finishing just behind Victoria Police and NSW Police, the result is a remarkable achievement for Tasmania and demonstrates the impact that can be made when people unite behind a common cause.

From the beginning, Team 2390 was about much more than numbers. It was an opportunity for people to honour Keith’s legacy in a meaningful way, through an act of generosity that reflects the values he lived by every day – service, kindness, and a commitment to helping others.

Every donation made as part of the campaign has helped someone in need, making it a fitting tribute to a highly respected colleague, friend, and member of the Tasmanian community.

Tasmania Police extends its heartfelt thanks to everyone who donated, encouraged others to get involved, shared the campaign, or supported Team 2390 in any wa

The success of the campaign shows what can be achieved when a community comes together. While the Emergency Services Blood Drive has now finished, the need for blood donations continues throughout the year.

Together, Team 2390 created a lasting tribute to Keith’s legacy and helped save thousands of lives. Thank you. 💙🩸
